Joshua Birk

I joined Harding-Yost in November of 2020 as a Commercial Account Executive. Prior to joining HYI, I worked as a Large Account Underwriter at Eastern Alliance. I worked at Eastern for 11 years in various underwriting roles but always had the itch to go to the agency side of insurance but feared the unknown. Fast-forward 2 ½ years and I am happy I made the change. I’m not sure the agency side would have worked for me everywhere but the team and leadership at Harding-Yost is the reason I’m an HYI “lifer”. Aside from the great people and culture at Harding-Yost, I also really enjoy getting to know my clients and their business. Guiding them through the insurance process and making sure they are properly covered is rewarding.

Outside of work, my wife Erin and I have 2 amazing boys (Jonah and Colin). We live in Columbia and are constantly on the go. I enjoy coaching whatever sport the boys are into. We’re a diehard Phillies family and Notre Dame Football fans.

I’m also very involved in my hometown of Columbia. I serve on various boards and I’m a member of several other organizations (Lions Club, Columbia Park Rangers, Sunsnappers…). Probably too many organizations if you ask my wife, but giving back to my community is something that my Dad instilled in me at a young age and I’m passing that along to my boys. That’s also something that Harding-Yost takes pride in. Being locally owned and supporting and serving in the communities where we work is what sets us apart.
